Heat Transfer Laboratory – Fuman Faculty of Engineering


Heat transfer is an applied science in various engineering fields, such as Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. In the Heat Transfer Laboratory at the Fuman Faculty of Engineering, students conduct practical investigations of heat transfer phenomena. This laboratory was opened in 2011 and provides students in the Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering programs with hands-on experience in heat transfer.

Laboratory Devices:

- Thermal Conductivity Measurement Device for Solids, Liquids, and Gases: Students can use this device to measure the thermal conductivity of various gases, liquids, and solids. The device allows them to explore the relationship between temperature variation and the logarithmic radius in cylindrical systems.

- Heat Transfer Device for Radiant and Free Convection: Heat transfer occurs through conduction, radiation, and free convection. The device helps students measure the heat transfer through radiation and free convection under different conditions.

- Heat Transfer Measurement Device in Plate, Shell-Tube, and Double-Tube Heat Exchangers: Heat exchangers are widely used in industries for heating or cooling fluids. The laboratory at Fuman Faculty of Engineering has three common types of heat exchangers: plate heat exchangers, shell-tube heat exchangers, and double-tube heat exchangers. Students can measure the temperature and heat transfer in these devices both in parallel and counterflow configurations.

- Magnetic Stirrer with Coil and Jacket Heat Transfer Device: The magnetic stirrer is commonly used in labs to mix liquids. Some stirrers are equipped with heating capability, known as heater stirrers. This device enables students to study the heat transfer in a stirred system.

- Needle Blade Effect Measurement Device: Needle blades are used in industries to increase the heat transfer surface. This device allows students to measure the effect of needle blades on heat transfer.
