Process Control Laboratory – Fuman Faculty of Engineering

Control systems are the key elements in guiding processes in major industrial centers. The most common controls in industries include flow control, level control, pressure control, pH control, and temperature control. The equipment used in the Process Control Laboratory at the Fuman Faculty of Engineering is fully industrial, providing students with the opportunity to study computer-based control principles, which are widely used in modern industries. Students also get familiar with various models of control valves and measuring instruments.

The experiments offered in this laboratory include:
- Pressure and Flow Control Experiment
- Temperature and Flow Control Experiment
- Level and Flow Control Experiment
- pH Control Experiment
- Calibration of Electronic and Pneumatic Equipment

Laboratory Devices and Experiments:

-Pressure and Flow Control Device: This device consists of a hydraulic circuit that allows the control of pressure and flow. The circuit includes three tanks (air), a control valve for regulating compressed air pressure, and two control valves for managing the flow range of water. The system is controlled via a SCADA system with a computer, enabling students to study proportional, integral, and derivative control methods, along with system response characteristics.

- Temperature and Flow Control Device: This experiment involves controlling the temperature inside a double-walled reactor by adjusting the flow of water. Students work with temperature and flow control systems to study their response and behavior, using SCADA for system control.

- Level and Flow Control Device: This system uses a centrifugal pump to circulate water between columns and tanks. The system allows students to study level and flow control, as well as dead-time and process response characteristics.

- pH Control Experiment: In this experiment, a metering pump feeds acid into a reactor, and the flow rate is controlled to regulate the pH of the solution. This experiment covers the study of proportional, integral, and derivative controls for pH regulation.

- Calibration of Electronic and Pneumatic Equipment: This equipment is used for calibrating electrical, electronic, and pneumatic devices commonly used in the industry. Examples include pressure gauges, pressure switches, thermostats, transmitters, and electronic controllers.
