On Monday, June 2nd, 2025, one of the beautiful spring days in the lush province of Gilan was spent with various events at the Fouman Faculty of Engineering.

The event titled 'Artificial Intelligence: The Hidden Force Behind Production Growth' was held at the Fouman Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with the Growth Center of the University of Tehran's Science and Technology Park, the Fouman Technical and Vocational Training Center, the City Council, the Basij Women’s Committee of Fouman, and in the presence of the mayor, members of the city council, the commander of the Basij in Fouman, the Director General of Communications and Information Technology of Gilan Province, and representatives from several local organizations.

The primary objectives of this event were to explain the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a key factor in increasing productivity, reducing costs, and raising the awareness of managers, decision-makers, and interested parties about the practical applications of AI. It aimed to create a platform for interaction between researchers, technology companies, students, and trainees in the technology sector to develop local AI-based solutions

Dr. Sadigh Damaghani Zadeh, the president of the Fouman Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tehran, welcomed the guests and thanked all the organizers. He emphasized the importance of AI applications and serious efforts to achieve the annual slogan and the instructions of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He presented notable examples of achievements in this field and discussed AI's significant role in facilitating human life. He mentioned that in Fouman County, AI can play a key role in ensuring food security and promoting sustainable development in the region.

Next, Dr. Saeed Zahedi, the Director General of Communications and Information Technology of Gilan Province, stressed the importance of AI in digital transformation. He stated that AI is no longer a non-essential tool or something for the future, but has become an inseparable part of our daily lives. AI is one of the main drivers of digital transformation, and the future of the job market, education, and even public services is tied to it. From smart education and learning to improving healthcare services, transportation, agriculture, and urban management, the applications of AI are vast and unparalleled.

Also, Dr. Ali Naqash Asadi, a faculty member and head of the Computer Engineering Department at Fouman Faculty of Engineering, conducted a workshop on AI and its tools, applications, and services, providing training on how to work with several trending tools in this area, presented in a simple and understandable manner for the general public, even for non-specialists.

Following that, Mr. Jalal Jalali, head of the 'Shoro' Innovation Center in Gilan Province, presented the priorities of the province in the field of AI and highlighted specific examples of how this topic can be applied to the province’s industries. He discussed major issues and region-specific projects that are need-driven. He noted that Gilan Province, with its significant scientific and industrial potentials, needs to establish and strengthen platforms that facilitate more effective communication between universities, industry, and the technology community.

In line with this, another event titled 'Link' was held by the Shoro Innovation Center in cooperation with the student organizations of Fouman Faculty of Engineering. This event aimed to create a space for familiarizing and solving real technological challenges. One of the attractive parts of this event was the technical mentoring desk for students and the specialized energy desk session for professors and industry experts, which significantly contributed to enhancing the teamwork, technical, and entrepreneurial skills of the participants, as well as networking among students.

Additionally, to encourage and support the creative youth in the province, an exhibition showcasing AI-based products and achievements by students, learners, and active individuals in the province was held at the Fouman Faculty of Engineering. The top participants were honored by provincial and county officials, and prizes were awarded. It was also agreed that the Shoro Innovation Center would provide material and spiritual support for the selected student teams from Fouman Faculty of Engineering, who expressed interest in solving need-based provincial projects.
